Which internet browser are you using? I either have to go through the hassle of uninstalling it and trying again in the hope it doesn't kill it or switch to outlook which I really don't like. After a Microsoft update, I could no longer create a new mail message or reply or forward in Live Mail 12. I had the exact same symptoms, this fixed the problem for me as well.
