Is the password different from the POP server? I had to change the outgoing stmp to 587 and uncheck the "connect using a secure server." Go to accounts (in the upper toolbar), properties, advanced. I setup the client on my Ubuntu-Linux machine using "Thunderbird", and it worked fine, no problems. All rights reserved.

Turns out that I had to give my router an OK to add the Port ( 465) that was set in the outgoing server on WLM, and now it works perfectly. It's not easy because I don't use Windows 7. Windows Live Mail Won't Send Emails In the situation I'm remembering, the wizard setup was suppose to check "my outgoing server requires auth" but it didn't and I had to setup the SMTP server, port, auth type, Windows Live Mail Won't Send From Outbox Thanks.

This also makes for a good opportunity to learn some windows troubleshooting. I know from experience that uninstalling Symantec products cleanly, sometimes is difficult. I can only guess the router has been set up differently than stock. We also suspected that Norton Anti-virus with the email scan feature was interfering.
